Guilty verdict in Portage County triple stabbing

A Portage County jury has found a Bancroft man guilty of two charges in a triple stabbing. After deliberating Friday and more than half the day Monday, the jury convicted Tyler Dahms of killing his girlfriend's aunt and stabbing her dad last spring. Dahms was acquitted though on charges he stabbed the girlfriend's uncle. Record number of spearers expected

For the second year in a row a record number of Lake Winnebago sturgeon spearing licenses have been sold; 12,680 people bought licenses, up from the previous record of just over 12,423 set last year. It's also an increase of 50 percent since 2007. DNR Fisheries Supervisor Ron Bruch cites "public ownership" as a reason for the program's popularity. Explosion at UW-Madison chemistry building

A scare this morning on the UW-Madison campus. Around 9:30 am there were reports of an explosion at the chemistry building. There was, but on the damage scale, it was rather small. A staffer received non-life threatening injuries after a lab experiment ignited and broke a glass container holding the chemicals. The injury was a cut from the glass. The American Lung Association says their efforts to reduce or prevent tobacco use is a constant battle. Dona Wininsky with the group's Wisconsin chapter says for every success achieved, the tobacco industry is out there creating new products, and developing new ways to market those products. "In the adult population now we're seeing this proliferation around the state of roll-your-own cigarette shops. The reason that people are attracted to those is that the price is lower."
